The technological process that generates Optizan uses a mixture of water and salt to form a saline solution, which is passed through a specially designed electrolytic cell in order to modify its functional properties without adding any other reagents.

McElwaine Technical is formally listed by the European Chemicals Handling Agency as an approved supplier of hypochlorous acid.
